Not to pick on Hannes directly, but the statements about "stupid" or
"broken" business models need to be toned down. Last I checked, communism
has been nothing but a total failure, and we all need to get over the fact
that at some point, some where, no matter if we work in a commercial
research institution or academia or respond to email in between bouts of
shouting at C++ compilers, somebody has to earn revenue and make a profit.
I think we can reasonably discuss the viability of having a deployable
system that has as a prerequisite universal access also serving more closed
environments for commercial purposes, but I think it should be clear to all
of us that mortgages must be paid and food must be purchased.
